One thing I'm not clear on...It was implied that Dave's aunt had something to do with Dave's forced coming-out and the beating, but I've never been able to put the two together.
For Dave, those few weeks were just shit all around. Not only did he have to deal with his psychotic aunt, but when he came out to his best friend via AIM, rather than support him, said friend went equally crazy and hit him with a baseball bat. A bunch of bad all piled up on him in a matter of weeks, and it was not good times... but no, the two events weren't directly related.
Hey, since we're on the subject of Dave's aunt, it reminded me of something I was wondering about early on in KIMS 1. Is there an underlying, unstated reason why Mrs. Badass allowed Dave's aunt to move back in with them? She just seems like she loves Dave so much, there has to be a reason she'd make him live with Jackie, knowing how awful she is about Dave being gay and well...everything else.
Or have I missed the point (entirely possible, btw, I'm sometimes a little slow on the uptake), and Mrs. Badass didn't realize how miserable Jackie made Dave?
Mrs. Badass has a soft spot for all of her family members, is the problem. So even though she knew that Jackie and Dave were antagonistic toward each other -- far more on Jackie's side than on Dave's -- she let her come stay.
But after what happened with Jackie the second time around, she's not welcome back in that house -- Mrs. Badass made that very clear when Jackie left.
