Okay, my reasoning. Uhmmm, Max Adler is a super talented sexy beast. And...uh...ummm... ...Uh.

Just kidding! Seriously, I totally get where Dave's coming from. Whether he knows it or not, he's super freaking insecure. And this guy, Kurt, this perfect (in Dave's eyes) boy who he's been loving despite all of his efforts otherwise comes in and calls him fat, and sweaty, and ugly and not his type. And all this time, I don't doubt that Karofsky has been just HOPING that somewhere in there, something would change and Kurt was secretly hiding a huge crush on him, etc. But no, now he knows that he has no chance with Kurt because Kurt "knows" that he's fat and sweaty and not his type. Etc. So now they're buddies, and all this time Dave's still been thinking "you're not his type, he thinks you're fat, you're not his type," etc. etc. And then he's like, oh lala, pranceprance, I'm gay and I think jocks are hot.

And so he's stunned and upset and probably re-reading his entire IM log to look for possible ~hidden come-ons by Kurt. And probably having a panic attack and punching walls or doing something equally manly to make up for the earlier, highly effeminate reading of the IM logs.

/opinion is my opinion, no trying to attack your guys' actual thoughts on this matter.

This made me smile. First, I like the fact that they bond over something that his mom brought up, so fun. But I really love the fact that David did overreact. It proves that despite his hardest to act cool, there is still some insecurities within him. I don't think either were at fault here, the're just being boys.

I personally love that you give us chapters where Kurt and Dave are totally kismet and connected, followed by ones with drama and misunderstandings. Sounds like most relationships I know, especially when the people involved are communicating primarily in non-face-to-face ways. It just seems so completely realistic to me, and makes the characters enjoyably multi-dimensional.

Sometimes people who like/love each other say stupid or hurtful things, and need time to separate and cool off. Shit, I've been married for 16 years and you can believe me it still happens ALL THE TIME. I think this chapter illustrates this beautifully.

I only got to this now because I was FLAINING AT MY TV WATCHING CHRIS COLFER WIN A GOLDEN GLOBE! And then looking for Max and seeing him in his blueish-silver tie, near Darren, when Ryan Murphy was accepting the award for Glee.
